About Us

Direction for Your Ideas

Tarleton Consulting is a unique company among a crowded field of experts. What makes us special? We combine two specialties that rarely come together, yet if you think about it, are closer than most people realize - science and creativity. We take this special talent and use it to make you better.  We take the ideas that maybe you don’t even know you have and give them direction, so we reach your goal together!

Tarleton Consulting is divided into two parts because each part is unique. To us, we see these parts as operating as one because the merged skills are needed regularly to solve a challenge. In practice, the entire process of working with you involves the combination of science and creativity.

With over 25 years of weather experience, Tarleton Consulting can help you weed through an increasingly noisy weather area. Our specialty is transportation weather, where we have experience in hands on operations, education, sensor science, and message delivery. Very few, if any, companies in North America have experience in so many different disciplines surrounding transportation weather.

Where it starts to get interesting is Tarleton Consulting also has extensive experience in marketing, business development and communications. Our specialty is working with companies who are trying to sell a complicated or scientific product or service, and just need help simplifying their messages and getting results. Once the customer understands the offering, you know they will be onboard. We help you get there, and not just with the technical stuff, but in a way that your audience will remember you and what you have to offer.

Umbrella Owner

Jon Tarleton

Owner

Jon began his career over 25 years ago as a meteorologist in an operational weather center, as part of Surface Systems Inc., where he provided forecasts for various clients all across North America. During his time in this role, he was identified as having strong communications skills in dealing with clients. Jon eventually became the trainer, traveling throughout North America, developing and teaching thousands of operations staff at airports, utilities, and in public works roles. In addition to countless speaking opportunities at national and international venues, Jon learned how to target a message and adjust for the audience. After a few years, Jon was moved into marketing, and eventually director of marketing, where he got to use his creative side. Over the last 15 years, Jon has directed companies’ product launches, communications, brand, digital and social execution strategies.

Combining meteorology and marketing might seem like an unusual fit; however, this dual background has not only benefited him as an expert in the transportation weather community, but also allowed him to observe a situation and offer a solution that will get the audience’s attention, not following any predefined rules of how it must be done in marketing.

“Marketing is about being noticed and being remembered. Your audience needs to know you are there, remember what you are saying, and feel comfortable that you understand them.”
